Collecting Vintage Handheld Video Games

Who doesn't remember the Coleco Donkey Kong Tabletop Arcade video game? We had one way back when but were silly enough to play with it. If I'd have known then, what I know now, I would have set a few of those babies aside and kept them new for the next generation.

Vintage Handheld video games and vintage handheld video game cartridges are hot collectibles right now with some rare cartridges fetching upwards of a thousand dollars.

The good part about collecting these classic games is that you can still find vintage video games being sold at garage sales flea markets after someone cleans out their storage areas. I personally find eBay to be the most convenient place to shop for my favorite vintage video games.

As a collector, I want my games to be in great condition and most of all I want the game to be in working order. After all, what's the fun of owning a video game if you can't play it? For the most part, a game in an unopened box will be the most valuable, but games in opened boxes with complete instructions, in great condition can still be worth some good money.

It's really up to you as far as how you want to build your collection or what types of games you would enjoy owning the most.

I've compiled a few eBay searches here so you can get an idea of the prices and condition of many of the classic games available to collectors. I'm betting that even if you aren't in the market to buy a vintage video game you'll still enjoy the stroll down memory lane that this page provides. Enjoy!
